CARING FOR PEOPLE WITH EPILEPSY IN THE COMMUNITY




COURSE INFORMATION

This education unit has been developed for nurses and midwives working in the community.

This education unit currently has two stages.

  • Stage 1 - distance learning CDROM includes classification; seizure types; aetiology of epilepsy; issues in diagnosis, assessment and treatment; possible psychosocial effects of epilepsy. It requires about 15 hours of study.
  • Stage 2 - locally delivered workshop that aims to develop your knowledge of the community management of people who have, or may have, epilepsy. There'll be an opportunity to watch and discuss some case studies. The workshop lasts about two hours and there is a follow-up activity lasting about an hour.
