EDUCATION UNIT 10
DERMATOLOGY IN THE COMMUNITY: MANAGING ECZEMA (30 CREDITS AT LEVEL 3)

COURSE INFORMATION

Only the introductory distance learning component of this education unit is now available. It is designed to help nurses working in the community to manage eczema effectively in their areas of practice.

Originally the distance learning was developed for nurses and pharmacists and was available via the Crookes Healthcare website. Crookes Healthcare now no longer exists but in response to requests from nurses, we are making the PDFs of the distance learning available for downloading from the Masterclass website. At the end of each part of the distance learning you'll see links which originally took students to the Crookes website in order access the next part of the distance learning. Ignore these links (they don't work anyway) and download the PDFs at the bottom of this page.

The self-directed distance learning is in three parts - A, B and C. Content includes aetiology, pathophysiology, presentation and prognosis of different types of eczema; role of medications and ultraviolet light therapy in management of eczema; formulation considerations; issues of compliance (adherence to treatment); self-management measures related to eczema; complementary therapies. About 30 hours of study are required to complete Parts A, B and C.

Participants can use the study for their continuing professional development.
