DERMATOLOGY IN THE COMMUNITY: FUNDAMENTALS OF SKIN CARE

This education unit provides key underpinning knowledge that is relevant to the care of all patients
with skin disorders. In order to study this education unit you need to be a nurse or pharmacist working
in the community who is a qualified prescriber (independent and/or supplementary) OR who is likely to
become a prescriber in the near future.

This education unit has been developed for health or social care professionals involved with hepatitis C
patients/clients. It aims to help these professionals understand legal, ethical and professional issues
involved in the management of adults who are at risk of hepatitis C infection or who have the infection.
EDUCATION UNIT 18
PROMOTING URINARY CONTINENCE: IMPROVING PRACTICE
This education unit has been developed for nurses working in hospitals or the community.
It provides fundamental knowledge about types of urinary incontinence and how nurses can
work with adult patients and/or carers to promote urinary continence.
The unit is in two stages and participants can use the study hours to meet PREP requirements.

INVASIVE FUNGAL INFECTIONS
15 CREDITS AT LEVEL 3
This education unit is being developed for registered nurses whose work involves caring
for patients at risk of systemic fungal infections.
It will focus on the serious nature of these infections and on their prevention, recognition and management.

CARE OF PEOPLE WITH HIV INFECTION: ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY
30 CREDITS AT LEVEL 3
This education unit has been developed for registered nurses who are working in secondary care
with patients receiving anti-retroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV infection.

LEG HEALTH: DELIVERING QUALITY COMMUNITY CARE
This education unit has been developed for nurses working in the community. It aims to help them reflect on how they can contribute to the provision of a high quality leg care service. The unit emphasises the importance of an holistic approach to innovative care delivery.

TUBERCULOSIS: TURNING THE TIDE
15 CREDITS AT LEVEL 3
This education unit has been developed for nurses
working in primary or secondary care. Content will include epidemiology,
pathology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of TB.

ANTIPSYCHOTICS: MEDICATION MANAGEMENT IN CLINICAL PRACTICE
30 CREDITS AT LEVEL 3
This education unit has been developed for mental health workers in secondary care e.g. mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists. It aims to help them work with and support individuals receiving antipsychotic medication, as well as their carers and families. Content includes psychopharmacology, concordance and important issues related to antipsychotic medication in the management of people with schizophrenia.

CARE OF PEOPLE WITH HIV INFECTION: ANTIRETROVIRAL SIDE EFFECTS
This education unit has been developed for nurses,
pharmacists and dietitians working with adults who have HIV infection.
It aims to help participants develop the knowledge and understanding
to work with patients, managing side effects appropriately and so
improving treatment adherence.

THROMBOSIS: SAVING LIVES
This education unit is being developed for all
nurses and midwives working in secondary care, except those caring
for neonates. It will enable participants to develop knowledge and

NUTRITION SUPPORT IN THE COMMUNITY
This education unit has been developed for all nurses working in the community
e.g. in nursing homes or as district nurses or practice nurses.
It focuses on malnutrition in adults and how this may be prevented or treated by
nutrition support and, in particular, oral nutrition support.
