Education is of vital importance in the modern world. Today when we think of education we think of going to school and then perhaps to university or college. Education is the transmission of knowledge or skills or experience from one generation to another or from one person to another. In the school setting the teacher is the person who transmits information or knowledge to the students.
But schools are not the only form of education. There was a time when going to school was not the only way for you to make something of yourself. Instead of going to school you became an apprentice – learning a trade like bread making or carpentry. Then you would take over and in time train your own apprentice.
This seems a romantic idea but it might work better than having children trapped in a classroom only really concerned with the best business SIM Only deal that they could get.
Children are often completely frustrated by the classroom setting. Being required to sit still and listen to someone else teach you for hours on end would be difficult for most adults. Education is invaluable but there are also ways of making children engage with the material.
Just having a teacher talk at you is never going to create a passion for learning. If learning can be fun and interesting then it can also be hard work.
